London Shostakovich Choir

Calling experienced bass/baritone singers!

Shostakovich Symphony No.13 (‘Babi Yar’)

The London Shostakovich Choir is re-forming for a performance of Shostakovich’s 13th symphony (‘Babi Yar’) in central London in September 2025 and welcomes interest from bass and baritone singers who wish to join for three rehearsals and the concert over a single week.

We believe we are the only amateur orchestra in Europe to have performed all 15 of Shostakovich’s symphonies! Details of all our past concerts can be found elsewhere on this website.

The Orchestra is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and has been looking forward to a repeat performance of the 13th, in the year that marks the 50th anniversary of Shostakovich’s death, and (of particular resonance for this extraordinary work) a year of moving commemorations of the Holocaust.

We are delighted that Wendy Norman will resume her role as Chorus Master and we will be joined by Bass soloist John Lofthouse.
